The Next Phase of Telehealth Post-COVID
During COVID-19, we have seen telehealth as a useful tool in delivering care. 80%+ physicians used telehealth, 30 % of all outpatient visits done via telehealth and ~80% of patients say they are likely to continue using telehealth after COVID-19. 52.7 million Medicare telehealth visits in 12 months during pandemic that is 63x increase.
Telehealth will become a Standard Service
22% of Americans utilized telehealth services in April 2022. Significant portion of outpatient care, preventive care, long-term care, and well-being services would move to telehealth. CMS is continuously working towards making telehealth flourish by introducing changes, waivers and codes for reimbursement. There are several bills in congress to put amendments to current reimbursement policies to promote telehealth. Telehealth is streamlining primary care visits, to making specialized care more accessible.
